Major Function

The senior pastor is responsible to the church to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ, to teach the biblical revelation, to engage in pastoral care ministries, to provide spiritual & administrative leadership in all areas of church life.

 

Responsibilities:

1.     Set organization vision, implement strategies, monitor progress and make adjustments if necessary to reach the goals.

2.     Plan and conduct the worship services; prepare and deliver sermons; lead in observance of ordinances.

3.     Lead the church in an effective program of witnessing and in a caring ministry for persons in the church and community.

4.     Visit members and prospects.

5.     Conduct counseling sessions; perform wedding ceremonies; conduct funerals.

6.     Advise the Executive Board in leading, planning, organizing, directing, coordinating, and evaluating the total church ministries.

7.     Work with Executive Board members, church officers, and committees as they perform their assigned responsibilities; train and lead the Executive Board members & other members in their ministry.

8.     Act as moderator of church business meetings.

9.     Cooperate with association, state, and denominational leaders in matters of mutual interest and concern; keep the church informed of denominational development; represent the church in civic matters.

10.   Oversee and guide pastoral and office supporting staff.

11.   Any other duties as and when required.

 

Qualifications:

1.        MDiv with an accredited theological institute or equivalent

2.        At least 7 years of pastoral experience in discipling the staff & congregation in ministry and worship

3.        Bilingual and bi-literal in English & Chinese preferred.

4.        Gifted in expository bible teaching, leadership and administration

5.        Able to work full-time effectively with strong leadership, innovative thinking, interpersonal skills and a team player

6.        Ability to build strong relational ministry with youths & adults

7.        Ability to develop, implement and oversee pastoral ministry, outreach programs and administrative routines

8.        Provide operational and strategic leadership to church

9.        Provide pastoral care and counseling for congregation

10.     Actively model and empower evangelism

11.     Sound in preaching/pulpit skills

12.     An exemplary integrity & spiritual maturity

13.     A passion for people

14.     Consistent with the basic faith of San Francisco Evangelical Free Church and the apostleˇ¦s creed
